Vocal Technique:
The technique is based on a natural approach to singing and focuses on the proper function of the vocal cords throughout the range of the voice, enabling freedom and connection through the bridges of the voice. When the vocal cords and body/breath are functioning ideally singing feels effortless. Strengthening of mix voice for pop/rock and Broadway “belt” styles. Development and connection of head, mix and chest registers - taking into account singer’s style of interest. Jennifer has both a sensitive ear and a gift of intuition and can readily recognize any vocal issues or imbalances in the individual singer and address them immediately with specific exercises that target vocal cord function for that singer and/or by altering or changing specific vocal exercise in use or approach in song. Her teaching style is both intuitive and technical, taking into account the uniqueness of each voice, personality, and individual’s goals. The ultimate goal is to free the voice so that it can serve the song and emotion. Magic happens when we sing on the waves of emotion.
Benefits to young singers include getting comfortable singing in all registers of the voice, learning how to navigate through the bridges, ear-training, self-confidence, self-expression, freedom and joy of singing our favorite songs, discipline of focused work and practice.
